The Origins of TMD/TMJ Syndrome

TMD/TMJ Syndrome is a compilation of apparently unrelated symptoms brought on by reflexive activities of the muscles of biting and chewing. It comes from brain muscle conditioning acquired by stress or trauma. As with virtually all training troubles, it may be changed with right education, usually with no requirement for some other interventions -- but this kind of education is outside the scope of dentistry (though within the scope of clinical somatic education).
The mouth muscles, like all the the muscles of the body, are susceptible to regulation by conditioned postural reflexes, that affect chewing as well as biting moves. The reason folks don't go around slack jawed as well as drooling, for example, is that the conditioned postural reflex causes the muscles of biting and chewing generally to remain a bit tensed, maintaining their jaws closed.
People's jaw muscles are usually more or steel bite pro alternatives (check here) less tense, regardless if they're asleep -- but the norm is rather mildly tense -- just adequate to keep the mouth closed and lips together.
The degree of tension folks hold is a matter of conditioning.
