The trending footage was recently featured on [ ], a state-approved news outlet affiliated to the Young Pioneers of China.
It is reported that the stuck moggie was spotted on Friday morning by a group of students at the Shandong Agricultural University in eastern Chinese city Tai'an.
As the Good Samaritans gathered to rescue the feline, one of the male students climbed onto the tree to fetch the animal while the others stayed on the ground and prepared to catch it with a jacket.
But the cat seemed to have quickly grown attached to its saviour as it is seen clinging onto the man's leg, refusing to let go.

The student even tried to shake the cat off by swinging his leg - but the furry rescuee remained still while holding onto his leg tightly.

Netizens were amused by the cat's behaviour as the footage quickly amassed over one million views after being shared by multiple Chinese news outlets on Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter.
One viewer wrote: 'Haha, phượng hoàng cổ trấn it looked so cute but so helpless at the same time.'
Another user said: 'The way the moggie held onto the guy's leg is so adorable. These students are very kind-hearted.'
